Das neue Pilgern
Waltraud Hönes, Neue Erde Verlag

Isn’t it time to take a new path? This new way of pilgrimage focuses on experiencing the Earth
as a living being and entering in a reciprocal exchange with her. It can show us the direction
towards a future worth living for us humans on and with the Earth.

We need to take off to discover a larger self that knows about the connectedness of everything within the one World Soul. That means for us to expand ourselves, contributing to humanity re-entering „right relationship“ with the Earth and experiencing her sacredness again. If we go on pilgrimage in that spirit, we bring something to the enchanting places that we visit instead of only wanting to take something for ourselves. We bring them gifts out of joy for giving, which lets our heart become more and more crystal clear.

Trailer to the book “Das neue Pilgern”

The heart is the portal to the soul which blossoms when we embark as pilgrims on the Seven Gold-Silver-Rainbow Paths to the „Incomparably Radiant Stone“ of the re-vitalized world myth of Fanes. These seven paths are presented in this book. As readers, we are on our way through a grandiose landscape with a group of pilgrims from different countries. We collect our first experiences on these spirit-infused soul paths and receive teachings from the mythic beings that accompany us.

A practice section gives instructions how we can begin with this new form of pilgrimage ourselves and learn the way of living that belongs to it, no matter where we live. That way, we can contribute actively to a cultural and spiritual renewal.

This book takes us on a pilgrimage on the Seven-fold Path of the Crystalline Heart. These seven paths address the entire color spectrum of the soul and lead us towards the „Incomparably Radiant Stone“: the mythic vision of a new world order of beauty and connectedness. Take off into a new dreamtime and come on a pilgrimage towards a future truly worth living.

Seele der Landschaft - Landschaft der Seele

"What I am concerned with in this book is the renewal of our relationship with the Earth as a living and animate being, and overcoming the gap between rational and mythical world views. Central to this is the rediscovery of soul, which resides in the intermediate realm between spirit and matter and uses the language of mythic imagery.”

Shamanic work is always soul work and so feeds from a source of a mythic cosmovision that expresses itself in specific ways the forces of its surrounding landscape, while at the same time remaining universal in nature. In my work, this source is the myth of Fanes, rooted in the mountain group of the same name in the Dolomites, which, with its totemic motifs and dominance of female figures, is unique in the mythology of Europe and holds a special potential for healing the human soul, especially the European one.

Reviews and comments on the book:

"A civilization that does not cultivate relationships with the essence of the Earth and the cosmos, as ours does, is not viable in the long run. We are challenged to rethink and to act creatively. Waltraud Hönes' book opens an inspired path to the re-encounter of man, myth and nature. Having been initiated into the Pachakuti Mesa tradition of the Andes, her eyes were opened to discover an ancient European shamanic tradition in the Ladin tradition from the Dolomites. I know the Dolomites as an almost tangible embodiment of high fairy beings called Fanes. But Waltraud does not stop at words. From the encounter of both traditions she develops a shamanic practice, through which the return of the high spirits and fairy beings, who have fallen into oblivion, is made possible, transformed in the light of the new age. This also awakens the part of the fairy being that we humans carry within us.
I wish you, dear readers, much inspiration on your journey in the mythical world of Fanes! "

"I have read many spiritual books, but always something was missing and I was incessantly searching. When I read this book, the scales fell from my eyes. Finally, the search was over. I was finally where I always wanted to be. There are many books about shamanism, but the author of this book has managed to bring the reader closer to the essence of true shamanism. One sees the world with all its creatures with different eyes. I recommend everyone who cares about our earth to read this book and anchor the way of life of giving and taking, "Today for me, tomorrow for you", in their own heart."

"Dear Waltraud,
thank you so much for writing such a deep and touching book. It found its’ way to me exactly at the time I was called by a landscape in my immediate surroundings."

-Barbara F. from Switzerland (our translation from German)

"Finally a good book about shamanism in Europe: easy to read, yet sophisticated in content, excellently written by an author who clearly lives what she talks about. Narration, deep contemplation and wonderful poetry, illustrated with excellent color photos complement each other, really bridging mythical and rational consciousness. Exciting, clear and with a lot of heart, sometimes also refreshingly provocative, a shamanic spiritual path is described, which, starting from the Andean tradition, revives an ancient European myth. The author succeeds in freeing shamanism from the cage of the healing method and placing it in a larger context: the mediation between the visible and the invisible, man and nature, and the recollection of the sacredness of the earth or of matter. Exciting is the prospect of a new European pilgrimage for the earth, and fascinating are the motifs mentioned from the Fanes myth, which in fact stands out from European mythology for its shamanic and very feminine character. In general, the book makes it clear that shamanic activity only acquires depth through a myth, since it provides access to the soul of a landscape. The myth of Fanes could really be THE discovery and THE chance for Europe to heal its collective soul and find a new way of dealing with the earth. Personally, I can hardly wait to hear it told in its entirety."
